One more year El Periodico de Catalunya and Diari Sport will provide an athlete with a scholarship to attend the International Master of Sport Management at the Johan Cruyff Institute for Sport Studies.

The Master is a specialized one-year program, aimed at athletes, former athletes and sports people, who wish to acquire the necessary tools to manage business related to sports. "Our goal is that our students acquire the necessary tools so they can make their passion for sport, their profession," says Xavier Crespo, a former professional basketball player and coordinator of the Master.

Aware of the importance of a program designed by and for sports people, Johan Cruyff founded the Institute because "in my experience, sports organizations should be run by people with a deep knowledge of sports and a heart of an athlete”.

To qualify for the scholarship, candidates may register from July 3rd through the website www.elperiodico.com/becacruyff . The winner will be announced on September 2nd.

The Institute also has an online education platform and offers on-site workshops and courses at sport organizations and companies.

Ibon Begona Zubiaur, former Basque football player, has completed the e-MISM (The International Master of Sport Management Online) through the Johan Cruyff Institute for Sport Studies. During his career, Ibon played at various clubs including Athletic de Bilbao, Alavés and Nástic de Tarragona. In his seasons with Alavés, Ibon contributed to what was the golden age of the team from Vitoria, achieving great rankings in the league and a becoming a finalist in the UEFA Cup.

Johan Cruyff Institute has signed a memorandum of understanding with Pelorus Dutch Sports Technology (PDST) Sdn Bhd and Education@Iskandar Sdn Bhd (EISB). A definitive agreement will be signed within six months to establish Johan Cruyff Institute Malaysia (JCIM), JCI's pioneering institute of sports management in Asia. JCIM will join JCI's international network of four institutes, two universities and five colleges in Spain, Mexico, Sweden and The Netherlands.

The School of Trainers of the Catalonian Football Federation has launched an Online Course for Future Football Coaches for the 2010/2011 season, with the contribution of the Johan Cruyff Institute as academic supplier.
